Wytches, Volume 1

Wytches, Volume 1 - Scott Snyder, Jock, Matt Hollingsworth, Clem Robins Oh my gosh, this better not be a single volume thing. I mean, I assume there will be more, but I haven't heard any news about the next installments, so... *crosses fingers and waits impatiently*

The artwork in this is, I think, what first caught my attention. I don't remember where I heard about Wytches, but it piqued my interest, so I downloaded the Kindle sample and was instantly hooked by the look, so I bought it right away. It's just awesome and I don't think I've seen anything quite like it before.

The story was less awe-inspiring for me, but still very good. I love that the Wytches are so different from other stories out there. It's a nice change and I want to know more! The twist at the end was cool, and I actually didn't see it coming.

I'm kind of becoming jaded (or maybe I'm totally jaded at this point, idk) with the horror genre, regardless of the medium, but Wytches had a respectable creep factor. I can't remember the last time anything I read actually made me feel really uneasy for a while as I read, and I was tempted at one point to flick the light on (I was reading in the dark, alone). This didn't have me biting my nails or white knuckling something in absolute terror, but it did freak me out just a little.

I absolutely recommend this if you like comics and horror, especially if you're sick of the same kinds of stories about witches and want something totally different.
