The War of the Worlds
I think my expectations were a little too high for this one.
The War of the Worlds was my first encounter with H.G. Wells, and I really hope I enjoy some of his other works more than this one. I think it was the POV that made it so difficult for me to get through and enjoy, because the narrator bored me to tears a few times.
I think I expected it to be more of a story about humans fighting against martians after an invasion (which was in the story, kind of), but it was more like a diary of one guy's experience during the invasion. I wasn't thrilled with it, but I didn't hate it completely, so I'll definitely read at least one more Wells story before deciding his writing isn't for me.
